Lovely place the food is beautiful the staff are so polite and friendly got a very good country feel considering it's in the middle of a suburb of York definitely worth a visit

Just edited my previous negative review to write this one. Under new management, this place has massively been turned around.
For the first time in about 4 years, there's actually somebody friendly behind the bar! After a string of uninterested/transactional/unhelpful bar staff, there's now smiles and politeness.
Dark,dismal. Scruffy including staff who were in ripped jeans casual .!!! Toilets need attention. Food , had fish ,chips and peas, chips were hard, fish ,batter undercooked and pale could have been cooked a little longer, pudding sticky toffee pudding ,delicious!! Sorry The Cottage, will not be calling again.
