Post office counter closed too much stating they are short staffed

They have accepted my parcel and refused to give receipt as they said it will be “emailed” . Upon not receiving any email they don’t know what happened to the parcel and they didn’t provide me with any receipt which means basically I lost both the parcel and the £100 pounds I paid for it.
