I have visited for food a few times, the food has always been stunning, the staff are polite and helpful, Elaine the landlady goes above and beyond and has turned the pub into a welcoming place for all.

I really like the Black Dog, generally good food, had sausage and Mash, the sausage were extremely tasty but the mash was as if it was once frozen which sadly let it down, great atmosphere though !!!!! Have always loved it here always really welcoming atmosphere ?
The Black Dog is a picturesque, country food pub in the Lancashire village of Belmont. Opening its doors as a public house in 1825, the original building was first used as a village courthouse in the 1700s and later as a farmhouse.
Recommended in the Good Pub Guide, the Black Dog offers a great range of pub food alongside well-kept beers and cask ales. Like any good country pub, there are a number of cosy snugs, raised areas, coal fires and traditional features. At the back of the pub there’s a sun-trap beer garden and part-covered courtyard.
Popular with cyclists, dog walkers and hikers, the Black Dog has three en-suite rooms for comfortable overnight stays with superb access to the local countryside.
