We dine out most weekends, often trying different restaurants in London, and we agreed that we had the best meal here. A very interesting and enticing menu with a good wine list and the dishes we ordered were all excellent. You could not fault the service even though most of the tables were occupied. The set menu was very reasonably priced. I seldom give five stars in my reviews, but Church Road deserved them.

Good service, good food and ambiance. Music NOT blaring out disco which is is a rare treat. The set menu at £25 for 3 courses is a real bargain. Definitely recommend.

We wanted to try their lunch menu but we left a bit disappointed. The food was excellent but I was surprised to be served a starter of hummus without even a small piece of bread to accompany the plate. When I asked the waiter for a small slice of bread I was brought a full loaf, that took 10 to 15 minutes to arrive and in the end it cost us an extra 5 pounds. The bread was delicious and well presented but that is not the point. I have never been served or eaten a kind of spread, in any restaurant, without either a crostini or some form of bread to accompany it. We will be back because we generally liked it but that left a sour note.

We only had one hour to spare for lunch and the team accommodated this effortlessly and with very good grace. Even in the short time they served a starter and main course that was delicious. The main course souffle is awesome ! We also had the Pave of beef which was perfectly cooked and also delicious. We will definitely be returning. Strong recommend

Really pleased we decided to try Church Rd - it?s a very nice place- lovely staff, excellent food and a relaxed ambiance. Our crab starters were fresh, sharp and flavoursome, but our mains of bream were really quite delicious, perfect flavour and texture combinations, the squid ink aioli bringing the dish together perfectly. Our morello cherry sorbet desserts were excellent. The wine list here is varied and interesting - in short, Church Rd is a great establishment. I would hope that the menu changes frequently in order to encourage the return of clientele.

Outstanding. The best steak tartare I have ever had. The set lunch is good value but as the portions are generous having 2 starters for the same price is a viable option. The service is excellent. I wish I lived closer to this restaurant as I would go every week.

Every dish was beautifully presented and met up to expectations. The terrine was very tasteful and the Yorkshire pudding made the grade.

We went for Sunday lunch and were very impressed by the service, the food, the presentation and the ambience. Staff were attentive and helpful, the food was served piping hot and beautifully presented on the plate. The choice of food was imaginative and varied.

Went there for my husband?s birthday dinner tonight with our two children which was booked weeks ago. We had been there with our friends last year and had really enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately this time around the same cannot be said. Even though we had booked weeks ago, our table was in front of a very large party that was VERY loud. Even our host who seated us agreed. I asked to be moved. The manager said the only option was for us to move to the bar and wait for the next 45 minutes for the next available table. Or she could try to move our table to another part of the restaurant which could take 15-20 minutes. Really? We decided to stay put and continue with our dinner even though it was less than ideal. Fortunately the very noisy party left during our main course. We paid the bill including the service charge because I didn?t want to fault the staff. I think the overall service was good. But the manager?s attitude was poor and she did nothing to address my complaint of level of noise from the table next to us. We couldn?t hear each in our own table but she didn?t care! I made it clear to her that I wouldn?t be returning.

Went last Saturday. night Four of us. Restaurant absolutely heaving. Lovely atmosphere. Headlines: around £340.00 for four people. That involved: 4 cocktails (excellent) Two bottles of wine 4 starters: steak tartare (absolute bargain at 10.00) 3 bisques (good) 4 mains: 2 fishcakes; one chicken dish; one cod. All good 4 desserts: all superb Pretty good all round. Look, I think it's hard to eat franco-british cuisine/fine dining for less than £80.00 -£90.00 a head in London right now. It's not cheap. But Church Road is guaranteed a good experience. Acoustic in this restaurant is much better than it was a few years ago. Service very good. Parking relatively straightforward. Yeah, we'll go again.

Having read many good reviews of this Barnes restaurant I am sorry not to be more positive. The food was good, not brilliant but good. Definitely overpriced in terms of price quality ratio. In a good quality restaurant, you don?t expect your starters to arrive seconds after your aperitif. When you are spending 100gbp per head for a meal you don?t expect to be rushed. In a good restaurant you don?t expect to be presented with (and pay for) a whole loaf of sourdough bread (5.00 GBP) when you only want a slice to mop up your sauce. (Not that we couldn?t afford the bread, but don?t like to be taken for idiots). Likewise the dessert wine we ordered was mysteriously replaced by something else at twice the price : the staff were surprised to be challenged, but did amend the bill. The restaurant was not over busy, there was no excuse. This was the second time we have visited this restaurant, the first was just after the covid lockdown, when we were more than happy to gloss over any shortcomings. However, not sure we will be giving it a third try, as there are better local options.
