We had an amazing experience at this beautiful restaurant. The food was exceptional, beautifully presented and full of a range of unique ingredients and flavours. We wanted to extend a special thank you to manager Richard who went out of his way to make our evening memorable and truly special. It was lovely to meet chef Sameer and hear his story and we had the pleasure of being served by Komal who was wonderful. We cannot wait to come back again.

We came for a mid week dinner and although the food was mostly good, at this price point (£100 each excluding alcohol), you'd expect everything to be excellent. Between the two of us, we shared the malabar scallops (great flavour and delicious), Essex farm momo (interesting flavour but tasty), tandoori ratan (complimentary as they brought this out by mistake but it was quite average so wouldn't recommend), chaapon ka pulao (lamb cutlets which were nice), butter chicken (the flavour wasn't quite right and lacked seasoning) and the bhindi do pyazaa (stir fry okra where the flavour was good but the okra was too soft). There was no music playing which I thought was odd. The service was generally efficient but not overly friendly.

Decent food and staff were friendly but I wouldn?t rate this Michelin star worthy.4 different staff members waiting your table, some food items taken away when we weren?t finished, REALLY old decor; makes the entire vibe and atmosphere feel off and to top it off - the price! Extremely expensive for what it was? can?t justify it

On our family visit to London from New York, I was looking for the best Indian Restaurant in London and I am so glad we booked Benares! Each plate was beautifully presented and filled with flavor. We had the tasting menu and my favorite was the street food starter and lamb chop dish. Each bite had a surprising burst of unexpected spice that left me yearning for the next bite. The service was attentive and we felt very welcomed. Having travelled to so many countries and cities, and after visiting many Michelin Star restaurants, I can say this is definitely on my return list for London !

We went for the Christmas day tasting menu, and everything was on point. Strong and beautiful flavors, interesting wine options. Will be back!

We arrived at 5:30 for an early dinner - and we left at 6:10 - the restaurant was pretty much empty apart from the two of us, and the service was so quick! We ordered the Paneer Galouti, Chicken Pie, Lamb Chops Biryani, Butter Chicken and some naan. What can I say. The food was delicate & exquisite, as was the service from Shiv. The ambience was nice and cosy too. I must recognise the amazing kitchen - absolutely deserving of a Michelin star!Yes sure, it's rather on the pricey side (for everything we ordered above, the final bill was £162.04) and the portion sizes were small but that's to be expected for a restaurant of this calibre in the middle of Mayfair.Overall, thank you! A great evening out and we will be back!

The restaurant takes Indian cuisine and adds a modern and French style to it. The restaurant is buzzing and perhaps even a little noisy for a high-end restaurant. The service is fast and friendly allbeit the front desk lady was a little less suave than i would have expected for a fine dining establishment. The food is the main highlight. My wife and I had the tasting menu and enjoyed nearly every item. The street snack starter and lamb chop pilau were especially good. One disappointment was the chicken pie, which we found well presented but used minced chicken that didn't have a good texture or taste. The malai kulfi desert also lost a little bit of the authentic malai taste, and the basil jelly didn't work well, in my opinion.

Amazing restaurant serving both modern and traditional Indian cuisine. The cocktails are definitely worth trying.

Food was delicious, but prices could be better. The tasting menu is affordable, but the prices on the a la carte were a bit pricy for some of the dishes. I had the ceviche, which was great, but not worth £20. The lamb was fantastic, it was 10/10, as well as my fruit cake. I would come back so fast! The staff was kind and friendly, and made sure we had a great dinner.

Visited the restaurant recently, Cocktails were were superb like expected , however the food and dessert flavours & presentation was pretty avg.About service- the plates were not cleared after each course. ( not sure if they were short staffed as it was a Weekday) Very honestly didn?t get the fine dining feeling.

We went for a weekend lunch to Benares. The restaurant felt very dark for lunch service, the lighting more appropriate for dinner time.My visit and review of this place is obviously based on my expectations that I would have from any Michelin starred fine dining restaurant. We ordered paneer pie and tandoori momos for starter. The momo was nice but the pie did not feel like a complete dish especially from presentation point of view. It was scrambled paneer encased in filo pastry. For mains we ordered sea bass. That was the biggest disappointment. The dish was incomplete and usually done more justice in a fish and chip shop. This dish didn?t go with any of the sides or rice/bread offered either (ordered separately). Not at all a Michelin standard dish. I would have expected the chef to know better - it could barely pass as a starter, let alone a main. It was a lazy dish even for a starter. We ordered the tomato shorbet and malai kulfi. The kulfi was nice but the watermelon in it was misplaced. A tropical fruit like mango made more sense as far as flavour combinations go. The tomato shorbet was average. The food was average and definitely not Michelin standard or flavours. Given a choice I will rather pick other fine dining Indian restaurants which do not have any Michelin stars.
