The Whalebone has one of the finest pub gardens around. There is a grass area with benches and an amazing view over fields, a patio to the side of the pub and a patio at the front of the pub. Staff are great. If you want to be sure, call to check food is being served in the garden during colder months.

We have returned to the Whalebone many times over the last few years because the food, the service and the view are all wonderful! We love sitting in the garden and the patio area but also enjoy the ambience of the inside seating areas. The staff are genuine, kind and helpful. Want enough bread to enjoy your pate - you’ll have to pay extra!!! Won’t be going back. Lovely location but sadly clueless staff and overpriced, mediocre food. Only wanted a couple of starters on a Sunday afternoon impromptu visit, immediately met with hostility as to whether this was possible and where we were allowed... read full comment
