King size bed had thick topper and was very soft which didn't suit my hubby with his back, the shower had plenty of hot water but gravity fed so took a while to rinse my hair. Room small especially as we had a dog with us, v. Small TV. Wooden furniture quite nice, towels good. chair seat pad was well used. Quite village location. Bar and dining rooms were nice. Difficulty in finding a bin for the dog waste. Staff friendly. We had to be careful with the tap as it was easy to splash out of the sink when turned on.Food & drinks: Had lovely slow cooked lamb special and I had chicken passanda, good sized portions. Breakfast was ok only standard loaf bread available, fresh fruits only, apples, plumb, banana. But full cooked breakfast Inc black pudding and hash browns was available along with veg option. My bacon was lovely.

We booked The Queens as a pit stop on our way from the Wirral to Edinburgh. We had our dog with us so needed somewhere that would accommodate her, and they certainly did :) The value for money here is fantastic and the staff have been so friendly and welcoming. It?s a very chilled and quiet vibe which we appreciated. We had dinner here last night and went for the steak night offer - 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £40. It was a really tasty meal. Our room was really clean and nicely presented with everything we needed. It would?ve been handy to have an iron in the room but I?m sure if we?d have asked, they would?ve accommodated. Will definitely stay here again - thank you!

A very pleasant place to eat deserving commendation for creating a restaurant with imaginative cooking, attractive ambience and friendly staff. Perhaps the restaurant itself could do with some sound absorbing surfaces as, when busy, it can become rather noisy but that would be the only criticism. Under its new management this establishment deserves to do well and is already very popular.

Very tasty Sunday lunch at The Queens today. Good size serving all cooked well and very light Yorkshire pudding. There were a couple of big tables in but the waiting staff coped very well. Dog friendly and provided water and a couple of surprise treats for the pupster. Will definitely return.

Booked our Festive Lunch for six friends some time ago and was looking forward to our first Christmas Meal. First of all I would like to mention the two waitresses who appeared to be responsible for the entire restaurant (as saw no-one else) from bringing food, taking drinks orders, clearing tables etc etc - very under-staffed and girls worked their socks off! REVIEW OF MEAL - Starters - no bread with salmon starter and very basic / no butter for the table No water brought to the table Main courses started to arrive before the girls had even had a chance tho clear starter plates away. As only one girl serving ay our table of six it took a while for all mains to arrive and then vegetables arrived some time later. This unfortunately resulted in most of our meals being only luke warm. Roast potatoes were nice but no mashed potato, small stuffing portion arrived with chipolata sausage even later, as had been forgotten for the turkey meals!! Dessert - My cheese & biscuits was awful and caused a laugh at the table. Three tiny bits of dried up cheese and a lot of crackers - no grapes or anything else!! Apple tart again caused a laugh as it was glued to the plate - much like a toffee apple!! All in all a very basic meal and room for much improvement. In addition we were all cold as we sat in a corner away from the fire and the draught from windows was awful. We ended up stuffing cushions and handbags against the glass to help!!! Not quite the experience we had hoped for.

Kindly allowed to stayovernight in our campervan in the car park. Were made very welcome even at short notice. Very friendly staff, lovely location. Some of the best pub food we've had in a long time, and at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

We went last night (Thursday) for steak night. 40 quid for two steaks and a bottle of wine. We upgraded to rib eye for an extra fiver each. It was lovely, the steaks were tender and had lots of flavour. It was a nice busy atmosphere with good tunes playing. The new staff are very pleasant, polite and professional. We'll definitely be back!

Stopped at this little gem for a pint and ended up having dinner as the food looked that good. We were not disappointed, the steak pie was something else probably one of the best I have ever had. The staff were really friendly and the girl that served me was really nice. Definitely get back there one day.

Had a lovely vegan burger with chips (on a Tuesday - which is apparently very hard to find any restaurant). The chips were freshly fried. Good selection of ingredients on the burger. Would have loved if the bun was toasted. Thank you!
