We come to Chapel Stile every year, have walked to Elterwater a few times but always ended up in the pub across the road. This time, we've come up here at 9am and finally tried Slates. despite the sausage roll been the second best I've ever tasted. the coffee , tea and milkshake I purchased been nice, the service we received destroyed the entire experience. the bloke was friendly and accomodating but the lady serving us who slammed the butter sachet right into my hand and frowned when I politely asked... read full comment

Lovely little cafe, good to see it back in centre of village (August 23), best thing on the menu was mushrooms on toast - please can we have it back on the menu - thanks!
